Reopening California's Schools: A Lozano Smith Discussion on Complying with the Civic Center Act

The California Civic Center Act (Education Code Section 38130 et seq.) ensures that public schools, structures and facilities which are built with public dollars are accessible to the public for purposes beyond education and schooling.

As school districts adopt reopening plans in a virtual and/or in-person format, questions may arise from parent- and community-based organizations on their ability to use school facilities pursuant to the act.
